Historic Pinos Altos is six miles north of Silver City, on NM 15, at an elevation of 7,020 feet.
P.A. began in 1860, when three frustrated 49ers stopped to take a drink in Bear Creek and discovered gold. The Main Street of this charming old town is like an old western movie set. Many of the buildings date to the 1800's and have been restored with original memorabilia and artifacts. read more

McDonald Log Cabin
The little log cabin was built by a young Indian fighter from Ireland named John McDonald. His descendants still own the property and it is said to be the oldest building in the County. read more
