Historic Pinos Altos is six miles north of Silver City, on NM 15, at an elevation of 7,020 feet.
P.A. began in 1860, when three frustrated 49ers stopped to take a drink in Bear Creek and discovered gold. The Main Street of this charming old town is like an old western movie set. Many of the buildings date to the 1800's and have been restored with original memorabilia and artifacts. read more

Hearst Methodist Church
The Hearst Methodist Church (circa 1898) was built by the Hearst family of newspaper fame and serves as home to the Grant County Art Guild. The museum features a number of conveyances such as a glass-sided hearse which carried the body of Pat Garrett. read more
