16 September — The 6th Annual Gila River Festival: Celebrating the Gila's Web of Life. The Festival features guided field trips, a film festival, night hikes, a noted keynote speaker, children's activities, gallery tour, and much more. Location: Silver City and Gila National Forest

- Fifth Annual Mimbres Valley Harvest Festival
25 September — As the growing season continues, residents of the Mimbres Valley will be coming together to celebrate their life in the valley, inviting everyone to their Fifth Annual Mimbres Valley Harvest Festival, Saturday, September 25th, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. A day long hoe down, when farmers put down their hoes for the season, is planned with farmers’ market, storytellers, musicians and craftspeople coming together to share their love of the Mimbres at the San Lorenzo Elementary School, just off of NM Highway 152.

Gila Cliff Dwellings

Within a few miles of the Cliff Dwellings, elevations range from around 5,700 to 7,300 feet above sea level. McDonald Log Cabin

Pinos Altos Museum
The Pinos Altos Historical Museum is housed in a log cabin (circa 1860s) that has been in the Schafer family for over 130 years. The log cabin at one time served as the first school house in Grant County. read more |

Pinos Altos Orchards and Gift Shop
Located on the site of the old Clark and Massingil orchards at 13 Placer St. The shop features a unique collection of work from local artists as well as homemade jams, jellies and imports. read more |

Pinos Altos Volunteer Fire House
Pinos Altos Fire House was built to fit in with the charm of this 1860s village and is home to our Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. read more |

Schafer log cabin
Not many log cabins have survived since the 1860's when they were built by miners who came to search for gold on the mountain. Apaches liked to set fire to them, kerosene lamps were accidentally turned over, and fireplaces spit out burning pieces of wood. Bear Creek and a few wells provided the only water supply - so once a fire started, there was only a slim chance of saving a log cabin. read more |
