There have been many books, articles and web pages written about Pinos Altos. Some of what has been written is embellished, some is incomplete or erroneous, and some is factual and well researched.

The work of our local Pinos Altos historian and author, Jody Lyons-Cline, offers perhaps the most accurate and well researched information about the history of Pinos Altos and it's past inhabitants. Jody began with a book about the Pinos Altos Cemetery - it was her personal journey to somehow preserve the names and memories of all the precious souls who had lived and died and been buried in Pinos Altos. In her quest, Jody accumulated a vast amount of information and stories about the history of Pinos Altos and it's interesting settlers. She eventually wrote an article for New Mexico Magazine about Cross Mountain and three more books, the last of which is a fictional(?) account of a "murder" that took place a hundred years ago.
